Sažetak:

The European project IPATCH strives to develop methods for early warning of pirate attacks at sea using a suite of sensors (AIS, radar, thermal and visual cameras). To this end, advanced algorithms for detecting and tracking potentially threatening vessels and analyzing their behaviors are needed, and realistic data needs to be collected. The talk will given an overview of the project and then focus on the tracking algorithms developed, in particular a short-term single-target object tracking algorithm based on channel coded distribution fields.

Biografija: 

Jörgen Ahlberg received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 1996 and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2002, both from Linköping University, Sweden. He then held positions as scientist and research leader at FOI, the Swedish Defence Research Agency for nine years. He is currently an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Linköping University while also running R&D projects at Visage Technologies AB, Termisk Systemteknik AB, and Glana Sensors AB, companies specializing in visual, thermal and hyperspectral computer vision respectively. Research interests, in the general area of image analysis and vision, includes tracking and analysis of facial images as well as automatic detection, recognition, and tracking in thermal and hyperspectral systems. He is co-supervising PhD students in these areas at the universities of Linköping, Uppsala, and Zagreb.

Sažetak:

Layer 2 Virtual Private Network (L2VPN) is widely deployed in both service provider networks and enterprises. However, legacy L2VPN solutions have scalability limitations in the context of data center interconnection and networking, which require new approaches that address the requirements of service providers for virtual private cloud services. Recently, Ethernet VPN (EVPN) has been proposed to address many of those concerns and vendors started to deploy EVPN based solutions in data center edge routers. However, manual configuration leads to a long time consuming, error-prone configuration and high operational costs. Automating the EVPN deployment from cloud platforms such as OpenStack enhance both the deployment and flexibility of EVPN Instances (EVIs). In this talk we introduce a Software Defined Network (SDN) based framework that automizes the EVPN deployment and management inside SDN-based data centers based on OpenStack and OpenDaylight (ODL). In addition, we show how a policy based architecture enables flexible routing and traffic engineering using pluggable components in the SDN controller.

Biografija: 

Dr. Andreas Kassler received his MSc degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from Augsburg University, Germany in 1995 and his PhD degree in Computer Science from University of Ulm, Germany, in 2002. Currently, he is employed as Full Professor with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Karlstad University in Sweden. Before joining Karlstad University, he was Assistant Professor at the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, between 2003 and 2004. Dr. Kassler is (co-)author of more than 100 peer reviewed books, journal and conference articles. He served as a guest editor of a feature topic in EURASIP Wireless Communications and Networking Journal, and is on the editorial boards of several international journals. Dr. Andreas J. Kassler is a senior member of IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Communications.

Sažetak:

Until recently, structured (e.g., relational) and unstructured (e.g., textual) data were managed very differently: Structured data was queried declaratively using languages such as SQL, while unstructured data was searched using boolean queries over inverted indices. Today, we witness the rapid emergence of Big Data Integration techniques leveraging knowledge graphs to bridge the gap between different types of contents and integrate both unstructured and structured information more effectively. I will start this talk by giving a few examples of Big Data Integration. I will then describe two recent systems built in my lab and leveraging such techniques: ZenCrowd, a socio-technical platform that automatically connects Web documents to semi-structured entities in a knowledge graph, and Guider, a Big Data Integration system for the cloud.

Biografija:

Philippe Cudré-Mauroux  is a professor at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland where he leads the eXascale Infolab and the CTO of Scigility. He received his Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology EPFL, where he won both the Doctorate Award and the EPFL Press Mention in 2007. Before joining the University of Fribourg, he worked on information management infrastructures at IBM Watson Research (NY), Microsoft Research Asia, and MIT. He won the Verisign Internet Infrastructures Award, a Swiss National Center in Research award, as well as a Google Faculty Research Award, and has recently won a 2 MEUR ERC Consolidator Grant. His research interests are in next-generation, Big Data management infrastructures for non-relational data.

Professor Cudré-Mauroux presented a keynote lecture, entitled "Big Data Integration", at the HUTS workshop, co-located with the ConTEL 2017 conference. The abstract of the lecture is listed below:
